The skeleton of the Perfect Facebook post

Too long, too late, too inconspicuous.

Or something else.

There are many reasons why a Facebook post doesn’t go as well as it should.

We cannot guarantee a successful Facebook post either, but we can give you tips on how you can certainly influence in a positive direction the success of your post.

Every post you post on Facebook is classified into a relevance scale of 1–10 by an automatic algorithm. The higher is this rating, the more relevant your post is for your target group, and the more often it will be shown to your fans in the Facebook feed.

But how can you increase the relevance of your contribution? Here are some tips:

Image selection for your Facebook post

One of the most important criteria is the picture — your picture depends, of course, on what you want to achieve. In all cases it should arouse curiosity in the audience and stay in the memory of the viewer.

Picture people. Faces, eyes and close-ups arouse emotions in the viewer, and so he gets stuck on your Facebook post and is more likely to click on your post.

Keep the subject simple. The viewer shouldn’t have to think twice about what he is seeing. When you quickly scroll through the feed, you should immediately know what you want to convey with your post.

You should avoid images with the colours grey and blue because these are facebook colours. Pictures in these hues tend to go under.

High — Quality images. When choosing a picture, make sure that it is of high quality. The currently most ideal format is 1200 × 628 pixels. You should never see lettering or a text box on your picture.

The picture should be in the foreground-there is enough space for your text in the post description.

Text selection for your Facebook post

Basically — the less font, the better.

Your text should only support — try to be as expressive as possible with your picture — because that will be noticed first and fastest in the feed, only when you have drawn the attention of a potential reader with your image, he’ll stay with your post and read it text.

If you want to publish a link with a link preview (standard format), there are three places where you can influence the text:

  • The text above the link preview
  • The headline under the picture
  • Description text

The text above the link preview

You can use the link preview to post a text that is theoretically unlimited in length. A short teaser is suitable here, which outlines the content without anticipating too much. A short sentence is enough here.

The headline under the picture

The headline should be as short and crisp as possible. Since the headline catches the eye most in the text area, it is the most important of the three texts at the same time.

Description text

This text is only displayed on the desktop; it does not appear on mobile devices. Therefore, it should not contain any information that is important to understand the post. A short call-to-action such as “Get Mor info” or “Read the whole blog post now” is suitable for this.

We hope we have inspired you with these tips!
